History of Swada
Swada was established in the UK sixty years ago, the name being an amalgam of SWitzer And DAne. The Switzer brothers were the inventors of Daylight Fluorescent inks and pigments and went on to establish DayGlo Color Corporation. Dane was Switzer Brothers’ licensed agent and manufacturer.
Dane has a long history of providing specialized colours for coatings, inks and plastics applications. Our heritage includes the first successful application of daylight fluorescent technology outside the USA in 1950 and the subsequent development of those technologies for a wide variety of markets around the world. Though Swada continues to develop its own products it retains strong ties with the company that invented daylight fluorescent technology.
Swada was based in London until 2005 when it moved to Stalybridge near Manchester.
Since July 2018, Dane Color and Radiant Color, two world class fluorescent manufacturing companies and both wholly owned subsidiaries of RPM, operating in the Day-Glo Group, combined resources. The manufacture of all products produced at Dane Color, UK, is transferred to either Day-Glo Color Corp, Cleveland USA or Radiant Color NV, Belgium.
